Summer theme

The competition is held in November, after the summer break, so plenty of opportunity to get the shots!. Club members can enter up to 3 pictures each in mono prints, colour prints and slides. The theme for 2009/10 was 'Unloved'. A winner was picked from each medium and then a first from these entries for the cup. Result were as follows:

Best Monochrome:  'A shed in the woods' by B Martin
Best colour Print:    ' Boats' by G Wass
Best slide:                 'Drain outlet' by  B Martin
Final Winner             ' Boats' by G Wass

Chairman Vs Programme Secretary - Feb 2010

Due to the decline in transparency submissions, the competition has changed to print and slide entries. The five print subjects were 'An Essex Landscape', 'Looking down', 'Zoo Quest', 'Unloved'! and 'Flower study'. The slides were 'Gorgeous in Green', 'On the move', 'A statue', 'Autumn', and 'Night shot'.

The results for 2010 were programme secretary's team - 253 points and Chairman's team 272.50 points, reversing 2009 results.

There were nine entries this year, and club members vote on the winner. There is no set subject, it is up to the photographer to decide on the idea.

Photographer of the Year(March 2010)

Photographers submit a panel of six pictures, which should aim to show diversity of subject matter whilst retaining technical quality. Photographers can submit entries in all the colour/mono prints and slide catergories if they wish. There was a slight increase this year in number of colour print and slide submissions, but monochrome remained at the 2009 level.
